Michelle barged into her husband’s home office. She saw a beautiful home office setup that her husband had done for himself. The room was painted in white color and had a minimalistic look. There were three desktops on large table, a corner to read and a corner with a black swing to spend some me time. This was her dream setup too. Quickly she regained her focus and realized why she came in that room, she was distressed, one of her colleagues was leaving the current job to pursue his dream and she was struggling to do so since her son’s birth. She felt a pressure to continue the job for some more time so they could save good amount of Money. She was rationally understanding this way, but emotionally she wanted to pursue her dream.

Her voice raised, “Can’t you just trust me and tell me that you are going to support me no matter what I do? I am just tired of working so hard and constantly struggling between my current job and my dream to be a psychologist.”

Unable to understand where this was coming from her husband Mic asked her to sit and told her to take a breadth. He further asked her to tell him in detail about what happened and then he patiently listened to the frustration Michelle was feeling and understood why she was looking for his support. When she got to know that her colleague was gathering courage and decided to leave the job. It triggered her and she felt that her husband was the reason she was unable to follow her dream. Realizing Michelle was vulnerable, he said.

Ok Honey, I am with you if you want to follow your dreams. I will take care about our finances. You can choose to leave the job whenever you want. “

Hearing those words she felt such a relief and busted into tears. She was lounging to hear this from Mic since so long. She let it all out. Then she sat there for some time and said “I am giving myself 5 years. After that I am going to leave this job and pursue my further studies to become psychologist. I want to help women who might be suffering the way I did when I conceived.”

While they were with each other, Mic’s phone beeped, he received a message of lab reports. Yesterday, Michelle felt severe pain in her chest, and she fainted. Mic thought it was from exhaustion but for Mic, Michelle was too precious. He dialled 911 and rushed her to hospital. She was taken into an emergency ward and doctors did some preliminary tests. She was given some pain killers. After few hours she regained her consciousness. Those hours were the longest ones for Mic. Doctors told Mic to wait for reports before deciding on the treatment. As Michelle was feeling better, she was discharged. Today her mind was completely occupied about how she is struggling in her life to fulfil her dreams. Little did she realize she might not have that much of time to worry about all these. Mic took a moment and opened the lab reports. He was unable to read all the medical jargons hence he scrolled straight to the summary and his jaw dropped and his phone fell from his hand. Michelle was curious to know what happened. She asked Mic repeatedly. But Mic was not able to speak anything. Michelle shook his chair. Coming back to senses, Mic spoke that she had just 24 hours to live. She could not believe Mic’s words and snatched phone from the floor. She browsed the report herself and came to know that she had a rare condition that shortened her life span without any visible symptoms.

All her dreams and her child’s future started running like a movie in her mind. She was devastated. The first thought that popped up in her mind, what would happen to her child? Though she desperately wanted to achieve her dreams, while she on the edge of life, the only thing that she could think of was her beloved child. Realizing that she did not have a time, She suddenly stood from chair decided to give up everything and spend her remaining with Mic and her child and capture some beautiful memories for her child to relish.

As soon as she got up from chair, Mic’s phone ringed. Her chain of thoughts was broken, and she picked it up. Initially she could not understand what the person on the phone was saying. She heard few words, and they were “Sorry. Wrong Report”. Hearing this she came to her senses and asked the person to repeat, and the person was from the Lab, and she was apologizing of sharing the wrong report. The report was meant for “Michelle Scott”, and She was “Michelle Ferguson”. She was so relieved. She took a deep breath and busted in laughter. Everything else felt so irrelevant in the moment. Though she realized that the Michelle Scott had just little time and felt bad for her. She ran and picked her child and started kissing her. Nothing in that moment was more important than realizing that her kid would get to see his mother whenever he would be coming back from school.
